Hosted by Tips Out, Esfand, and Xaryu in partnership with Starforge Systems, RestedXP, Raider.IO, and matched with an additional $50,000 pledge from TimTheTatman. A level 30 Horde 6-round Swiss showdown on the World of Warcraft: Forever Closed Beta!
Total Prize Purse$100,000$50k Champ · $5,555/Class
The opening day of the $100,000 Forever Open concluded as 1,380 checked-in duelists battled across 48 initial pods in a grueling 6-round Swiss gauntlet. Following 103 disqualifications, 233 withdrawals, and fierce sudden-death tiebreakers, the field locked in the top 4 contenders per class (36 total finalists) who advance to Sunday's championship bracket. Dueling grounds also saw intense controversy with Nohitjerome's disqualification against Savix over an out-of-bounds Psychic Scream, sparking tournament-wide debates on admin boundaries.
Participants roll a brand-new Horde character on the WoW: Forever Beta PvP ruleset. Characters must carry the surname "Foreverpvp" and level to 30. Registration officially closed on October 2 at 10:00 AM PT after hitting the maximum capacity of 4,000 duelists. Discord nicknames must match character names for official competitor verification.
Stage 2October 17
The Qualifiers (6-Round Swiss)
Registered duelists check in on Raider.IO and pay the 15g entry fee. Qualifiers utilize a 6-round Swiss system (with tiebreakers where needed). Timed-out duels count as ties rather than requiring rematches. The top 4 placing duelists of each class (36 total) advance to Sunday's grand finals.
Stage 3October 18
The TFO Finals
The top 4 duelists of all 9 classes (36 fighters) enter the grand championship bracket competing in Best-of-5 duel series. The winner is crowned Death's Duelist and claims the $50,000 grand prize! The remaining $50,000 is distributed among the top finishers of each class.

Rules10/14/26, 10:40 AM
Major Bans Decree: Item Level 45 Cap, 226+ Prof DQ, Mind Control Cap & Shards
Hello @everyone,
Over the past few days, we've discovered several bugs, exploits, and broken items. The updated rules-and-guidelines addresses many of them, but some issues unfortunately can't be resolved through rules. As always, we have summarized the rule changes below, but please check the rules document for the full update.
• All quest and dungeon rewards of items over item level of 45 are banned.
• All profession items and tools that require a profession level of 226 or above are banned and considered an exploit (DQ).
• Minor Magic Resistance Potion is banned.
• Crystal Basilisk Spine is banned.
• Deviate Fish is banned.
• Green Leaf Tea is banned.
• Gnomish Mind Control Cap is banned.
Clarifications:
• All damage-dealing non-equippable pet summon items (e.g. Spider Swarm, Compact Harvester Reaper Kit, etc.) are banned. Equippable pet summon items and trinkets (e.g. Dog Whistle) are permitted.
• Pets must remain at a class's side until a duel has begun and the opposing player has turned aggressive.
• Warlocks are no longer allowed to leave the dueling area (we have an alternative solution for shards).
• Impersonating admins is considered a DQable offense.
Our methodology with our rulesets has always been the same: We start with as few rules as possible and add rules only when we believe an issue has a serious effect on fairness, the viewing experience, or event logistics. A rule we can't enforce reliably at this scale isn't a useful rule. While this update is larger than we had hoped, we deemed it necessary.
As stated in the rules, the ruleset may change at any time. Each competitor is responsible for staying up to date on the latest version. The qualifier rules may also differ from the finals rules: with fewer competitors in the finals, some rules will be easier to enforce consistently.

Exploits Alert: Profession Skill Over 225 Ruled an Exploit
Hello @everyone
We're neck-deep in logistics at the moment, but we are very aware of many exploits/bugs/bans we need to update the rules with. Just want everyone to know we will have a rule update tomorrow.
And yes, going over 225 prof is an exploit.
Thank you.

Hello @everyone

Qualifier Format: 6-Round Swiss System, Ties & Rule Refinements
Hello @everyone,
We've updated the rules-and-guidelines with qualifier check-in information and the competition format.
Given the number of participants and the logistics involved, the qualifiers will use a 6-round Swiss system, with tiebreakers where needed. The top four competitors from each class will advance to the finals.
Please read the full Rules document for details. All competitors are responsible for reading and understanding the tournament's rules, regulations, and policies.
We've also made several changes and clarifications based on feedback and observations:
• Added details and clarified talent submission requirements.
• Clarified prize pool allocation for the tournament winner's class.
• Clarified Shaman totem placement against uncontested openers.
• Changed timed-out duels during qualifiers to count as ties instead of requiring a rematch.
• Reworded the consequences for intentionally fleeing duels.
As a reminder, all TFO participants, competitors, volunteers, and employees are responsible for staying informed of any changes to the rules, regulations, and Code of Conduct.
Best of luck to everyone in the final stretch before the event!

Conduct10/7/26, 7:57 PM
Disciplinary Clause & Zero Tolerance for Admin Harassment
Hello @everyone It's right about the time we were planning to put out the qualifier format update, but instead of doing that, we've had to spend much of the day dealing with Code of Conduct violations and harassment towards our admins. I want to remind everyone of this passage from our Disciplinary Clause: World of Warcraft Dueling is not an officially supported Blizzard esport. While our team works tirelessly to ensure a fair and smooth experience, there remains a possibility that something goes awry during this event. If you are uncomfortable losing an opportunity at the prize pool due to a technicality, administrative decision, an in-game bug, a mistake in a duel, etc., this is NOT THE TOURNAMENT FOR YOU.
These dueling events are not easy to put on. There is no official dueling lobby, queue system, spectator mode, or sanctioned ladder to rely on. There is no established playbook for rules and formats, and no foolproof automated system to ensure every duel runs correctly. Every aspect of these events has to be executed and overseen by real people, real players; our tournament administrators. Without them, there would have been no original Classic Beta tournaments, no CDL, no Mak'gora, and no The Forever Open. Many volunteer hours of their own time to help develop rules, plan formats, scout locations, level warlocks to summon competitors, and referee thousands of duels. They are the unsung heroes of these events, and they do most of the work behind the scenes, receive little credit, and deal with most of the bs. We are lucky to have them, and harassment toward them will not be tolerated. And who are these unsung heroes? They are your guildmates, your faction members, and fellow WoW players. They love this game and are giving their time to create something for this community. Disagreeing with a ruling is fair. Attacking the person making it is not. So the next time you feel the urge to pop off on one of them, remember that you're only attacking yourself. Finally, if you are upset at any decision made by any admin, you can bring it to me. Will I answer? Probably not, I'm busy making sure we can run 6000+ duels in one day and that it isn't a total shit show. But when I get a moment, I will look into your complaint and hopefully not laugh at how pathetic and weak you are for complaining about something so stupid. This is an open tournament. Its gonna be scuffed. It will also be fun. Get your head out of your ass and prep if you want to play. Bounce if you dont. But treat our admins with kindness and respect. None of this happens without them.

Major Rules Update: Pet Summons, Item Bans, PW:Shield & Prize Split
Hello @everyone We have made another round of changes to the rules-and-guidelines. Please reference the rules document for the full changes. Below is a brief summary of our changes:
TFO Rules Update: 10/6/2026
• Consumable Items: All non-equippable pet summon items (e.g. Spider Swarm, Compact Harvester Reaper Kit, etc.) are banned.
• Student Fodder is banned.
• Flash bomb is banned.
• Items: Equippable pet summon items and trinkets (e.g. Dog Whistle) are permitted.
• Truthseeker's Bow is banned.
• Green Whelp Armor is banned.
• Goblin Sapper Charge is banned.
• General Rules: Transmog must be disabled during the tournament.
• Clarifications: Rogue opener: Stealth Classes will always get the uncontested opener in a duel. An uncontested opener is defined as the first offensive action cast, which includes ability-use such as Cheap Shot, Blood Fury, or trinket use such as Barov's Peasant Caller. Opponents must stand still until the uncontested opener has been initiated (do not spin your character around, hunters cannot place traps, etc). A player may pre-activate abilities such as Intimidate, but they may not disrupt the Stealth Classes' opener.
• Can buff yourself with items before duel: Only Class self-buffs are permitted for each player. Players may buff themselves with items and consumables before a duel has begun, provided they are not from other classes and do not violate any other rules.
• Yes can PWS before duel: Pre-Hotting (applying Heal over Time spells before a duel begins) is banned. Applying Power Word: Shield before a duel begins is permitted.
• Prize Money: The TFO total prize pool is $100,000. $50,000 will be distributed to the Champion, and the remainder will be divided evenly between the top placing individuals of each respective class ($5,555 to each of the 9 classes). For the class of the finals winner, the class split will go to the second highest placing player of that class. Tied classes' prize money will be divided evenly.
As always, competitors are responsible for reading and understanding all of the rules, regulations, and policies of our events. WoW: Forever is still an unsolved game; item/consumable bans may be modified at any time. The TFO team, at its sole discretion, may update, amend, or supplement the ruleset at any time. Thank you.

Ishnu-alah @everyone, We've reached 4,000 registrations for The Forever Open! On behalf of our team, thank you. The turnout has exceeded all our expectations. Legacy System Statement: Tournament Tuning Plans Announced
Hello @everyone As we all know, one of the main new features WoW: Forever is slated to bring forth is the Legacy System: a horizontal progression avenue designed to give players more meaningful ways to grow their accounts beyond the typical endgame raiding treadmill. While this system is exciting to us as players ourselves, a few specific Legacy talents have been identified by community members and tournament administrators alike as potentially conflicting with our goals for this beta-limited event. We think the Legacy System is awesome and plan to spotlight it and other new features, systems, and design choices in WoW: Forever, but we also understand the stress pursuing some of the legacy perks have put on players who intend to participate in this beta tournament. As such, we plan to modify our current ruleset to heavily reduce some perks' impact on gameplay but are ironing out the details. The reason we are talking about this now and not when we have solidified our decision is so players do not continue to unnecessarily grind out legacy perks at the cost of other tournament preparation. Once we have solidified how we modify the rule, we will let you know. And before anyone asks, yes, it is more complicated than simply 'ban it'. But rest assured, the outcome should be great. Cheers.
Original Discord Announcement — Forever PvP Discord
Hello @everyone We have made our first round of changes to the rules-and-guidelines. Please reference the rules document for the full changes. Below is a brief summary of our updates:
TFO Rules Update: 9/29/26
• Buffs: Only your own class's self-buffs are permitted, as well as buffs applied during a duel. Players may buff themselves after a duel has begun with items and consumables, provided they are not from other classes and do not violate any other rules. World buffs, temporary quest/objective buffs, and campfire buffs are banned.
• Shamans: May start a duel with up to four totems placed.
• Stealth openers: Stealth classes, including Druids, receive an uncontested opener. Opponents must stand still without turning until the opener begins.
• Warrior openers: Warriors receive an uncontested opener unless facing a stealth class, whose opener takes priority.
• What counts as an opener: The first offensive action, including ability, racial, item, or trinket use. For Druids opening with a cast such as Entangling Roots or Starfire, opponents may act when the cast begins.
• Opener time limit: Players lose their uncontested opener if they wait more than 25 seconds after their opponent becomes hostile. Delays caused by the opponent do not count against a stealth class's time limit.
• Stealth vs. stealth: Neither player receives an uncontested opener; both must seek each other out.
• Pre-duel restrictions: Pre-HoTs, Hunter pre-trapping, and Warlock pre-sacrificing are banned. Hunters may place traps only once the countdown reaches zero and their opponent becomes hostile.
• Gold buying: Explicitly banned.
• Duel delays: Reduced downtime between duels and added a penalty for delaying.
• Rules organization: Renamed the Items and Consumables section and moved some rules into more relevant sections.
As always, competitors are responsible for reading and understanding all of the rules, regulations, and policies of our events. WoW: Forever is still an unsolved game; item/consumable bans may be modified at any time. The TFO team, at its sole discretion, may update, amend, or supplement the ruleset at any time. Thank you.
EDIT: Slumber Sand and Furbolg Medicine pouch have also been banned.
EDIT 2: Clarified language around buffs

First Rule Modifications Notice & Strict Gold Buying Prohibition
Hello @everyone We have drafted our first set of rule modifications and will post them later tonight. As a reminder to all, per the rules-and-guidelines: As WoW:Forever is still an unsolved game, item/consumable bans may be modified at any time. The TFO team, at its sole discretion, may update, amend, or supplement this document at any time. Competitors are responsible for reading and understanding all of the rules, regulations, and policies dictated in this document. As always, there remains the possibility of future changes once level cap is raised as we continue collecting data on this new version of Warcraft. Please remain up to date on the rules at all time. Separately, we have been made aware of a few suspect instances where competitor gold buying may have potentially taken place. We will be straightforward about this now: any explicitly confirmed instances of gold buying during our events will result in immediate disqualification and lifetime ban from any event we put on. We expect players continue to abide by the rules and Blizzard/Warcraft ToS. If you want to buy gold, open an IRA (not financial advice). Cheers.
