Booty Bay Bruiser's Buckshot
"A thunderous goblin firearm that briefly made Azeroth's highest ledges, lifts, and zeppelins the most hazardous spots in the realm."
Booty Bay Bruiser's Buckshot
Item Level 35 Ranged Firearm • Booty Bay Honored Reputation Reward
Beta History & Hotfix Status Notice
Active Effect RemovedDuring the initial Level 30 beta bracket of WoW: Forever, the Bruiser's Buckshot featured an on-use active ability: "Take steady aim and fire a round to knock your target away (3 sec cast, 10 min cooldown)". Due to an unintended targeting interaction, the knockback blast affected same-faction allies, unflagged players, and peaceful NPCs.
Testers quickly turned the gun into the beta's ultimate griefing tool—punting friendly adventurers off the Thunder Bluff elevators, blasting players down the Great Lift in Thousand Needles, and catapulting passengers off sailing zeppelins and boats mid-voyage. Following widespread community video clips and severe Hardcore griefing concerns, Blizzard deployed an emergency hotfix stripping the active knockback entirely. The item now functions strictly as a standard Level 30 stat firearm.

The Knockback Archive: Infamous Beta Target Zones
Before the hotfix neutralized the on-use knockback blast, players took advantage of the 3-second cast time to set up devastating trick shots. Because the blast knocked friendly targets directly backwards from the shooter's vantage point, griefers organized ambushes at Azeroth's most treacherous chokepoints:
Shooters timed the 3-second cast as the wooden elevator reached top elevation, launching waiting Tauren and Orc duelists hundreds of feet to their splattered doom below.
The massive transition platform connecting The Barrens and Thousand Needles saw countless level 28-30 adventurers punted into the canyon floor.
Players riding between Orgrimmar and Undercity were blasted off the zeppelin decking into open ocean fatigue waters, leaving them stranded without flight paths.
