The Light and the Forsaken: How Undead Paladins Work
One of the biggest talking points rippling through guild halls and community forums is the addition of Undead Paladins. Lead Classic Designer Tim Jones addressed how this fits into the classic world without violating Warcraft's foundational lore:
• Channeling Through Willpower: Unlike living humans whose connection to the Light feels warm and soothing, Forsaken Paladins experience intense, burning agony whenever channeling Holy magic. They wield the Light through sheer devotion and mental fortitude, retaining their martial training from their former lives in Lordaeron.
• Unique Visual Identity & Animations: Forsaken Paladins feature distinct visual flair—faded, crackling golden-white spell effects, rusted ceremonial librams, and unique racial holy mounts.
• Racial & Class Synergy: Will of the Forsaken paired with Paladin immunities like Divine Shield makes Undead Paladins formidable front-line defenders in both PvE dungeons and open-world skirmishes.
Alongside Undead Paladins, the introduction of the Skyborne on Zephras Isle provides a balanced racial bridge that introduces Shamans to the Alliance and Mages to the Horde, preserving class equilibrium without eroding faction flavor.
The Road to Closed Beta: Thursday, September 17
