Warcraft Forever Deep Dive

9 New Dungeons, 2 Raids, Camping Profession, and Surnames Detailed at BlizzCon

resh off the electric announcement that Classic Plus is officially arriving as Warcraft Forever, the design team behind Azeroth's next chapter took to the main stage at BlizzCon 2026 for an exhaustive two-hour 'What's Next' panel and gameplay deep dive. Executive Producer Ion Hazzikostas, Lead Classic Designer Tim Jones, Lead Encounter Designer Nora Mills, and Production Director Clay Stone laid out the mechanical foundations, dungeon catalog, and progression roadmap for what they termed a "permanent forever home."

Launch Date: November 4, 2026

The Forever Philosophy: A Living World at Level 60

During the panel, Tim Jones expanded on the lessons learned from Season of Discovery and Era realms. "Seasonal content gave us the courage to experiment," Jones explained, "but players told us loud and clear that they don't want their accomplishments wiped every twelve months. Warcraft Forever is designed to last ten, fifteen, twenty years—building horizontally without ever raising the level cap above 60."

Permanent Level 60 Cap: Endgame progression focuses on regional reputations, alternative gear sets, class specialization depth, and world exploration.
No Flying Mounts & No Level Scaling: The danger, geography, and scale of original Azeroth remain untouched. Travel matters, terrain matters, and high-level zones remain lethal to under-prepared travelers.
Day-One Hardcore Servers: Official Hardcore realms will launch concurrently with standard Forever realms on November 4th, featuring permanent death and Mak'gora duel-to-the-death challenges.

9 Brand-New Dungeons Confirmed

In one of the most celebrated announcements of the panel, Lead Encounter Designer Nora Mills unveiled nine brand-new 5-player dungeons scattered across Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor, carefully positioned to plug longstanding leveling droughts and expand classic storylines:

1. Hall of Thanes (Levels 13–18): Nestled in the mountain passes between Dun Morogh and Loch Modan, Alliance adventurers assist Ironforge excavators defending ancestral vaults against Dark Iron saboteurs.
2. Ruins of Lordaeron (Levels 15–20): Descending beneath the courtyards of Capital City, Forsaken and Horde scouts reclaim forgotten royal crypts, confronting wandering ghosts and mindless scourge.
3. City of Dalaran (Levels 20–35): Set behind the shimmering violet dome in the Alterac Mountains, players infiltrate the magocracy during a period of fierce internal Kirin Tor power struggles.
4. The Excavation Site (Levels 26–32): An Explorer's League archaeological dig deep in the Wetlands that has unearthed unstable Titan relics and earthen monstrosities.
5. The Riverglades Dungeon (Levels 34–38): Located within the newly opened Riverglades savanna, this dungeon provides a vital alternative leveling hub to ease Scarlet Monastery burnout.
6. The Drowned City (Levels 38–44): Semi-submerged Gurubashi troll ruins off the coastline of Stranglethorn Vale featuring amphibious chambers and ancient aquatic terrors.
7. Krol'Dok Stronghold (Levels 40–46): A fortified ogre mountain citadel carved directly into the high ridges of Feralas.
8. Blackmaw Hold (Levels 48–54): An expansive corrupted furbolg city-burrow spanning the northern cliffs of Azshara.
9. The Shaper's Terrace & Alcaz Island Prison (Levels 56–60): Two high-stakes endgame instances—one delving into hidden Titan architecture along the Tanaris borders, and the other infiltrating Doctor Weavil and royal conspirators on Alcaz Island.

Two Launch Raids: Barrow Deeps & Hyjal Summit

Beyond 5-player dungeons, Blizzard confirmed two completely new raid instances will be accessible on day one alongside the classic 40-player Onyxia's Lair:

Barrow Deeps (10-Player Raid): An ancient subterranean Night Elf prison complex accessible via three separate entrances worldwide (Mount Hyjal, Moonglade, and Felwood). Nora Mills confirmed that deeper wings hold ancient barrow beasts, renegade wardens, and teased: *"including one infamous prisoner that players aren't quite ready to deal with yet."*
Hyjal Summit (20-Player Raid): Staged at the crown of Mount Hyjal around the roots of Nordrassil, adventurers unite to purge lingering demonic remnants attempting to drain the World Tree's regenerative essence.

Cartography: Mount Hyjal, The Riverglades & Zephras Isle

World designers showcased the visual and topographic evolution of three massive new landmasses seamlessly woven into Kalimdor:

The Riverglades (Levels 30–45): A vibrant frontier basin buffering the Barrens and Dustwallow Marsh. It features over 150 quests, human and orc settlements vying for fertile territory, and Mudsprocket Ferry—a neutral goblin riverboat trading port.
Mount Hyjal (Levels 55–60): A sprawling endgame zone exploring the aftermath of the Third War. High-level adventurers will assist the Guardians of Hyjal and Timbermaw furbolgs across open-world elite zones, world bosses, and raid entrances.
Zephras Isle (Levels 1–12): A tempest-swept tropical starting island introducing the Skyborne—a new playable elemental-hybrid race available to both Horde and Alliance. Their integration uniquely unlocks Shamans for the Alliance and Mages for the Horde.

The Camping Profession: Wilderness Survival

Crafting received a major addition with the introduction of Camping, a brand-new field trade skill designed to emphasize the open-world social experience:

Field Campsites: Adventurers gather timber and hide to construct temporary shelters anywhere in the wilderness.
Field Rested XP: Resting at an active campsite grants rested experience accumulation without traveling back to an inn or capital city.
Communal Buffs: Campfires allow parties to roast specialty field rations that provide stamina and spirit nourishment.
Field Repair & Gathering Synergy: High-tier tents offer field anvil repairs and boost gathering yields (herbalism, mining, skinning) within the camp's perimeter.

Surnames, Opt-In Transmog & Dual Graphic Toggle

Blizzard closed the deep dive by addressing community quality-of-life and visual fidelity questions:

First & Last Names: Character creation now features an optional two-part naming interface, enabling players to choose lore-friendly surnames and clan titles.
Opt-In Transmogrification: Transmog will be supported, but with a crucial client-side toggle. Purists who want the authentic Classic visual experience can disable transmog display, rendering every player in their true equipped armor—mismatched leveling gear and all.
Dual HD/SD Graphic Toggle: A built-in graphics toggle allows players to switch on the fly between updated high-resolution character models/lighting and original 2004 classic low-poly assets.
The Legacy System: An account-wide system rewarding altoholics. Leveling characters to 60 unlocks shared account bank tabs, travel hearthstone cooldown reductions, and commemorative heraldic crests.
