Warcraft Forever Systems Audit

Itemization, Unified Stats, and the Paladin Overhaul

s the dust settles from BlizzCon's monumental reveals, the scholars of the Grand Archive have been scrutinizing the deeper mechanical layers of World of Warcraft: Forever. While new dungeons and the Camping profession dominated the headlines, the true heartbeat of Classic Plus lies in its combat pacing, itemization tweaks, and class updates.

Our audit of the BlizzCon deep dive reveals significant updates that were overshadowed by the larger announcements. Here is everything you need to know about the engine driving Warcraft Forever.

Combat Pacing & Itemization

Combat in Warcraft Forever remains deeply rooted in the slow, tactical pacing of 2004. A standard open-world creature will still take roughly 10–15 seconds to defeat, and dungeon pulls will absolutely demand crowd control like Polymorph and Banish. However, itemization has been completely overhauled to remove "dead" stats and support a wider array of builds:

Unified Hit and Crit Stats: Spell, melee, and ranged hit chance have been combined into a single unified stat. The same applies to critical strike chance. This is a massive boon for hybrid specializations like Retribution Paladins and Enhancement Shamans.
Healing Equals Damage: Bonus Healing on gear now includes one-third (33%) as much Bonus Damage, ensuring healers aren't helpless when questing in the open world.
Caster Leveling Weapons: Spellcaster-oriented weapons will now grant spell damage and healing even while leveling, giving casters the same excitement of a weapon drop that Warriors and Rogues have always enjoyed.
New Modifiers: Gear can now roll with entirely new stats, such as reducing the chance for attacks to be parried or dodged.

Six New Race-Class Combinations

While Undead Paladins stole the show, Blizzard confirmed five other race-class combinations being added to the roster:

1. Gnome Priest
2. Human Hunter
3. Dwarf Shaman
4. Orc Mage
5. Troll Warlock
6. Undead Paladin

*(Note: The Skyborne race introduces its own unique elemental synergies, but these six standard combinations will shake up faction balance in profound ways).*

The Paladin Class Overhaul

The deep dive provided an exhaustive look at Paladins, serving as a template for how the developers are modernizing classes without losing their distinct edges (like still lacking a reliable interrupt).

Baseline Toolkit Additions: Holy Strike is learned at level 6 (instant weapon strike dealing Holy damage), and Consecration is now a baseline ability at level 20 for all Paladins. Crucially, Seals are no longer consumed by casting Judgment, completely removing the busywork of constantly reapplying them.
Protection: Finally gains a true taunt mechanic through Seal of Fury, which causes Judgment to taunt while active. New tools like *Shield Specialization* (grants mana on block) and *Swift Judgment* (resets Judgment if the taunt misses) give Protection true tanking viability.
Retribution: Can now specialize in Twist of Light, a talent that supports "Seal Twisting" natively by letting a Seal echo into the next melee swing without requiring third-party swing-timer add-ons.
Holy: Gains Infusion of Light (reduces the cast time of Holy Light after critical heals) to encourage weaving different spells instead of spamming a single button, and Light's Vigil, a cooldown that can reset Holy Shock for burst healing or damage.

A Deeper Dive Awaits

Blizzard has promised that every class will receive this level of meticulous tuning, aiming to elevate underperforming specializations while preserving the weaknesses that force classes to rely on each other.

We will continue to audit the spellbooks and armories as the closed beta progresses. Precision in spellcraft is not a luxury; it is the boundary between life and ash.
