Normalizing Weapon Skills: Ending Race-Locked BiS Tiers
During the Classic Systems Deep Dive, Lead Designer Tim Jones confirmed that hardcoded +5 weapon skill passives (like Human Sword Specialization and Orc Axe Specialization) are being transformed into generalized Weapon Mastery Perks.• Weapon Mastery Adjustments: Rather than granting hit/glancing penalty reductions exclusively tied to specific weapon types, weapon skill passives have been normalized across physical weapons, allowing Humans to wield axes and Orcs to wield maces without suffering crippling glancing penalty penalties.
• Racial Identity Preserved: Iconic weapon flavor is maintained through utility perks rather than raw hit caps—such as Humans gaining defensive benefits when wielding shields and Orcs gaining health regeneration while wielding two-handed weapons.
Skyborne Racials: Elemental Hybrid Traits
With the Skyborne debuting on Zephras Isle as a brand-new playable race for both Alliance and Horde, their racial toolkit introduces dynamic mobility and nature-attuned survival:1. Tempest Surge (Active): A short-range forward dash that unleashes a pulse of lightning, dealing Nature damage and slowing nearby enemies.
2. Windward Glide (Passive): Fall damage is reduced, and movement speed is enhanced when outdoors during stormy or rainy weather conditions.
3. Storm Resistance (Passive): Nature and Frost resistance increased.
4. Prismatic Crafting (Passive): Profession skill in Enchanting and Jewelcrafting increased.
Undead Paladins: Will of the Forsaken & Holy Synergy
Forsaken Paladins bring a unique combination of front-line defense and CC removal to level-60 PvP and PvE encounters:• Will of the Forsaken Rework: Blizzard confirmed that Will of the Forsaken still removes Charm, Fear, and Sleep upon activation, but it no longer grants immunity to those effects for a duration following activation. Channeling Holy magic costs additional mana as a thematic tradeoff for wielding the Light through undead flesh.
• Shadow Resistance & Cannibalize: In high-level dungeons like Naxxramas and Barrow Deeps, Forsaken Paladins can use Cannibalize between trash pulls to regenerate health without consuming healer mana.
