Unlocking Account-Wide Progression
Full Legacy System Overview & Calculator Announcement
To help you plan your journey before stepping foot into Azeroth's next chapter, you can now construct, theorycraft, and share your talent allocations across all three Legacy trees using our interactive tool at /legacy-calculator.
What is the Legacy System?
Legacy is a sweeping account-wide progression system introduced in World of Warcraft: Forever. Built to keep the entire Level 1–60 journey relevant across all characters, Legacy transforms everyday accomplishments—such as leveling alts, mastering tradeskills, exploring Azeroth, clearing dungeons, and conquering raids—into account-wide Legacy Points. While Legacy Points are earned and unlocked across your entire account, every character on your account gets its own independent allocation of those unlocked points! Spending points on your main character does not consume them for your leveling alts or crafters, allowing you to tailor distinct builds for every hero in your roster.
Key Legacy Mechanics & Constraints
• Earnable vs. Spendable Points: At launch, players can earn up to 65 Legacy Points across all challenge categories. However, each character is restricted to spending a maximum of 16 Legacy Points at launch.Character-Specific Tailoring: Because of the 16-point cap, you won't be able to max out every perk. A gathering alt might focus purely on Professions, while an open-world speed-leveler invests into Adventure*.
• Independent of Class Talent Trees: Legacy Points are entirely separate from your normal 51 class talent points. They provide auxiliary utility, convenience, and passive bonuses without replacing class power.
The Three Launch Legacy Trees
1. Adventure Tree: Focused on rested experience accumulation, stealth detection, open-world health/mana recovery on killing blows, flight path discounts/speed, and receiving talent points starting at level 9.2. Professions Tree: Enhances tradeskill level-up chances, yields scarce gathering materials from Mining/Herbalism/Skinning, grants merchant favor bonuses, boosts lure fishing yields, and features the 23-hour cooldown ability Dedicated Study to raise your lowest tradeskill.
3. Resourcefulness Tree: Reduces ghost movement penalties, lowers death durability loss, boosts reputation and honor gains, extends party buff and camp durations, and features Reagent Economy—eliminating vendor reagent costs for class spells and Tier 1 camp items!
Legacy Challenges & The Cosmetic Progress Track
Points are earned by completing Legacy Challenges split across six categories: Classes, Tradeskills, Player vs. Player, Adventure, Dungeons, and Raids. Leveling a Druid to 25, 45, and 60, or raising Blacksmithing to 150, 225, and 300 each reward Legacy Points.Furthermore, cumulative account points unlock rewards on the Legacy Progress Track:
• 15 Points: Replica Ironforge Air Rifle
• 25 Points: Spectral Bear Cub pet
• 40 Points: Spectral Bear Tabard
• 55 Points: Reins of the Spectral Bear mount!
