Deep within the misty marshes of the Wetlands, newly paved mountain paths have revealed an ancient subterranean complex long buried beneath the peat bogs: Excavation Site: Wetlands. While Whelgar's Excavation Site has troubled dwarf explorers for years with aggressive raptors, this newly opened instanced dungeon leads straight into slumbering titan machinery and subterranean terrors.
Designed for adventurers between levels 26 and 32 (with the final boss resting at level 31), the instance provides critical pre-raid weapon drops, unique trinkets, and a suite of faction quests essential for anyone journeying through the Level 30 Beta Cap.
In earlier iterations of Classic Azeroth, the mountains southeast of Whelgar's camp were entirely impassable. For WoW Forever, engineers cleared the hills, carving access paths and planting a dedicated Meeting Stone right outside the instance portal.
• Zone Location:Wetlands (Eastern Kingdoms) • Access Point Coordinates: `/way 47.8 56.3` (Base trail) • Meeting Stone & Instance Portal: `/way 53.4 65.3` (Hill summit) • Faction Travel: Alliance players can arrive by taking the boat into Menethil Harbor or running north through the Loch Modan mountain pass. Horde expeditions will want to fly into Arathi Highlands (Hammerfall) or Badlands (Kargath) and make the trek on foot.
All Excavation Site Dungeon Quests
Although recent beta updates adjusted dungeon quest experience values, securing every task before your expedition remains essential for upgrading weapons and trinkets.
The trek toward the second boss features one of the most punishing trash mechanics introduced in WoW Forever. In the overgrown thickets, stepping into the tall brush triggers ambush encounters.
• The Tall Grass Ambush:Thicket Lurkers do not simply stand in stealth awaiting pullers. Much like wandering through wild video game brush, pacing through tall grass causes them to spawn directly onto your party. • Thicket Matriarch Screech: Roaming Thicket Matriarchs patrol the pathways. When their health drops low, they unleash a piercing screech that calls nearby Lurkers from the reeds. • Tactical Advice: Stick strictly to cleared dirt pathways. Focus down non-Matriarch escorts first so your party is not overwhelmed when reinforcements answer the death cry.
Boss Encounters & Tactics
1. Saltspine → 2. Shadetooth → 3. Relic Guardian.
1. Saltspine
A massive crocolisk lurking in the marsh shallows. • Tendon Rip: Slows the main tank's movement speed by 71% for 8 seconds. Tanks should hold position rather than trying to kite. • Dust Storm: A 10-yard point-blank AoE inflicting physical damage and reducing attack hit chance by 25%. Casters and ranged hunters must stay beyond 10 yards.
2. Shadetooth
A lethal raptor pack leader accompanied by two Thicket Hunters. • Infected Wound: Cast by the adds, increasing physical damage taken by 21 for 5 minutes. Dispel this disease immediately. • Crowd Control: The two Thicket Hunters can and should be crowd controlled (Polymorph, Freezing Trap, Hibernate). • Terrifying Roar & Enrage: Shadetooth casts a 5-second, non-dispellable fear. Clear all surrounding brush first so feared party members do not accidentally spawn wild raptors. At 30% health, Shadetooth enters an Enrage (+30% attack speed). Slows and stuns are vital during this execute burn.
3. Relic Guardian (Final Encounter)
An ancient titan construct guarding the subterranean archives. To initiate the encounter, an adventurer must interact with the Archival Panel on the right side of the deactivated automaton. • Thunderclap: Inflicts nature damage to all targets within 10 yards, slowing movement speed by 40% and attack speed by 33% for 10 seconds. • Tank Stun & Knockback: The Guardian periodically stuns the tank for 5 seconds and knocks them back. Off-tanks or immediate defensive cooldowns are necessary. • Control: The construct is susceptible to slows and stuns. Utilize the perimeter architectural pillars to assist the tank during heavy damage spikes.
1. The Mystery Trinket (Satchel of Potions): Awarded to the Horde from Changing Tastes and to the Alliance from Heartwoven. A rare trinket slot item with on-use effects for leveling survival. 2. Titan Relic Finale Weapon Choices: Completing the follow-up turn-in after looting the Titan Relic from the Relic Guardian unlocks high-tier blue armaments: * Heavehammer: Two-Hand Mace, 27.73 DPS, 3.30 weapon speed, +7 Agility, +26 Attack Power, +70 Armor bonus. * Healer's Staff: Two-Hand Staff, 20.77 DPS, 2.60 weapon speed, +12 Stamina, +5 Mana per 5 sec (MP5). * Plus faction-tailored rare cloaks for defensive and offensive spellcasters.
